BillingDiscounts

Discounts

You can create discounts for any customer from the Discounts section of their Billing tab. A discount can be a percentage off or a fixed dollar amount, and it can apply to all products and services or to a specific product or service.

Location scoping

Each discount is scoped to one or more of the customer’s locations. You can select individual locations or apply it to all of them.

Usage limits are shared across all selected locations. A discount set for five uses across all locations means five uses total, not five per location. If you need a discount to apply five times at each location independently, use the “Save and Copy” button to create separate copies of the discount for each location.

Duration and limits

Discounts have a duration setting that controls how long they remain active:

  • One-time use. The discount applies once and then expires.
  • Set number of uses. The discount applies a specific number of times before expiring.
  • Until a specific date. The discount remains active until the date you choose.

You can also set optional guardrails:

  • Maximum discount amount. A cap on the total discount value, useful for percentage-based discounts where you want to limit the dollar impact.
  • Minimum invoice amount. The invoice has to reach a certain total before the discount kicks in.
  • Expiration date. A hard cutoff regardless of how many uses remain.

Reason tags

Each discount includes a reason tag to help you track why the discount was offered:

  • Promotion
  • Loyalty Reward
  • First-time Customer
  • Customer Retention
  • Error Correction
  • Custom (free-text)
